Boost your productivity with Chat GPT: Tips for getting the most out of AI tools

Discover how artificial intelligence (AI) can help businesses work smarter, not harder, and how ChatGPT can improve your productivity.

We shares tips and tricks for using ChatGPT to generate content for various marketing tasks, including social media posts, articles, website content, and more.

By knowing your audience, understanding your unique value proposition, and providing ChatGPT with as much information as possible, you can generate great content in a fraction of the time.

Are robots taking over, or is artificial intelligence a useful tool? The world is talking about chat bots so I figure I’d share some tips and tricks for how AI can help businesses work smarter, not harder. In this blog I’ll take a look at some of the marketing tasks AI can help you with and how to use prompts to generate great content that’s right for your business.

I use ChatGPT daily. For me, it’s an excellent productivity tool. For my clients, this means I’m able to produce great content for them in a fraction of the time, saving them money. That doesn’t mean ChatGPT is doing all the work. To get the best out of AI tools, you really need to understand your customers and your value proposition.

The types of content that I use ChatGPT for include:

  • Social media posts
  • Newsletter content
  • SEO keywords
  • Articles
  • Website content
  • Product descriptions
  • Tenders and RFPs
  • Business and project planning

Here are my top things I believe everyone should know to get the most out of chat bots.

1. Know your audience

All good content should be written to elicit a response from your key audience. If you want your audience to take an action it must appeal to them personally. Having a short audience description is one of the most important tools in your marketing toolbox and is key to getting the best output from ChatGPT.

Think about the type of customer you typically deal with in your business and then describe them. Your audience description should include:

  • Gender and age
  • Marital status and family
  • What type of job or role they have
  • What their key motivators are.

As a plumber, you might describe your audience as:

A husband and father who has a professional, office-based job. He has little disposable income and is time poor.

Store that away and we’ll revisit this soon.

2. Know what your business is all about

In marketing speak, we call this your Unique Value Proposition or UVP. This is the thing that sets you apart from everyone else. Maybe it’s the tools or expertise you have. Maybe it’s your focus on customer service. There will be an upcoming blog on writing a great UVP, but for now you’ll want to answer three questions:

  • Why does the customer need us?
  • What benefit does the customer get from us they can’t get anywhere else?
  • What evidence do we have that we can deliver?

For our plumber, this might look like:

We’re registered master plumbers with over 20 years experience in Canterbury. We’re on call 24/7 to manage all plumbing, drainage and gas-fitting disasters. Our customer service is unrivalled and we can work around your schedule and budget to deliver the best possible solution.

3. Chatbots are not experts

Chatbots like ChatGPT are designed to talk with you. They’re not experts on any topic, but they can pull or create information from a vast database and use this to respond to the questions you ask it. This means that the more unique information about your business you can give it, the better the responses will be.

As a chatbot, it means you can ask it to refine or change the answers it gives based on new information.

4. Using Chat GPT prompts

When using ChatGPT provide it as much information about you as you can. That’s where your audience definition and value proposition come in. For our plumber, here’s what I toldChat GPT:

First Prompt

I have a plumbing and drainage business. Here’s a little bit about my business: We’re registered master plumbers with over 20 years experience in Canterbury. We’re on call 24/7 to manage all plumbing, drainage and gas-fitting disasters. Our customer service is unrivalled and we can work around your schedule and budget to deliver the best possible solution.

Here’s my target audience: A husband and father who has a professional, office-based job. He has little disposable income and is time poor.

Can you give me five ideas for Facebook posts based on this information.

And here's what it gave me:

Sure, here are five ideas for Facebook posts for your plumbing and drainage business based on your target audience:

  1. Highlight your 24/7 availability: Post a message about how you’re always available to help, even in emergencies. This will reassure your potential customers that they can count on you whenever they need you.
  2. Share testimonials from satisfied customers: Post a photo and a brief testimonial from one of your satisfied customers. This will help build trust and credibility with potential customers who may be hesitant to hire a plumber they don’t know.
  3. Provide plumbing tips and advice: Post tips and advice on how to prevent plumbing problems, such as how to properly maintain your pipes and what to do if you notice a leak. This will demonstrate your expertise and show potential customers that you care about helping them avoid problems.
  4. Offer special promotions and discounts: Post a message about any special promotions or discounts you’re offering, such as a discounted service call or a free estimate. This will encourage potential customers to choose your business over others.
  5. Show your team in action: Post a photo or video of your team working on a plumbing or drainage job. This will give potential customers a behind-the-scenes look at your business and show them that you’re a professional and experienced team.
Then I asked it to write a Facebook post for the third idea.

Absolutely, here’s an example Facebook post based on the third idea of providing plumbing tips and advice:

“Did you know that regularly cleaning your drains can help prevent blockages and save you from costly repairs down the line? Here’s a simple tip: pour hot water down your drains once a week to help dissolve any buildup and keep your pipes running smoothly. Make sure you fact check

I’m not a plumber, so I don’t know if this is a good idea or not. If it’s not, you can pop in your own tip.

Prompt for a blog

I like the Facebook post, but I want there to be more value for my customer. So here’s what I’ve asked ChatGPT next:

Can you write a blog post for the same target audience and business that expands on that Facebook post and gives more drain maintenance tips – especially for winter.

Prewritten blog

Certainly, here’s a blog post that expands on the Facebook post about drain maintenance and provides additional tips for winter:

Winter Plumbing Tips: How to Keep Your Drains Clear and Avoid Costly Repairs

If you’re like most homeowners, the last thing you want to deal with in the middle of winter is a plumbing emergency. However, with the cold weather and increased use of your home’s plumbing system, winter can be a particularly challenging time for your drains. In this blog post, we’ll share some tips to help you keep your drains clear and avoid costly repairs during the winter months.

1. Dispose of Grease Properly

During the winter months, many of us are cooking up a storm in the kitchen. However, it’s important to dispose of any cooking oil or grease properly, as pouring it down the drain can lead to clogs and blockages. Instead, let the grease solidify in a container and dispose of it in the trash.

 2. Use a Drain Strainer

A simple way to prevent debris from entering your drains is to use a drain strainer. These inexpensive devices sit over the drain and catch food particles, hair, and other debris before they can enter your pipes. Empty the strainer regularly to keep it functioning properly.

3. Flush Your Drains with Hot Water

During the winter, your drains can be more prone to clogs due to the increased use of your plumbing system. To keep your drains clear, flush them with hot water once a week. This will help dissolve any buildup and keep your pipes running smoothly.

4. Consider a Professional Drain Cleaning

If you’re experiencing slow drains or frequent clogs, it may be time to consider a professional drain cleaning. A professional plumber has the tools and expertise to clear even the most stubborn clogs and help prevent future blockages.

5. Insulate Your Pipes

Finally, to prevent frozen pipes and potential bursts, consider insulating your pipes during the winter months. This can be especially important if you have pipes located in unheated areas such as the basement or crawl space.

By following these simple tips, you can keep your drains clear and avoid costly repairs during the winter months. If you do experience a plumbing emergency, don’t hesitate to give us a call. Our experienced team of registered master plumbers is available 24/7 to handle all your plumbing, drainage, and gas-fitting needs.

Make sure you fact check again, but I now have a blog post I can pop up on my website and a Facebook post that I can link to the blog post and it took me 5 minutes.
